Vlor: lavished/luxate

Published November 27, 1998
Topics Post-Rock

Vlor was an acoustic guitar instrumental shoegazer project. How can you be a shoegazer with an acoustic guitar? Record in a large room with the mic on the other side & you have plenty of reverb. At times reminescent of the Cure or Joy Division or Windsor for the Derby, Vlor is still its own unique sound. Lavished/Luxate collects both of the original cassette releases & documents two best friends playing guitar together live & raw.

Notes

"Guilt Jersey" is the big anthem single. Maybe it's worth mentioning that the two original members of Vlor had some kind of falling out around 2000, maybe the music can get them to be friends again.....

The songs of Vlor may have been really good to hear live if you were there in person when they were actually performing the songs but from what I've just heard over my headphones, I think the recording production needs a large amount of improvement done to it before people will feel like giving this act a serious listen.
